  northern VA and DC areas?  I've been to Red, Hot and Blue, Roy Jefferson's
  BBQ, and BBQ Country....   Any votes for best bbq sauce? 

Well, I'm a serious eastern NC BBQ fan, so we may have rather different
tastes.  I would say if you want good BBQ, get in the car and head to Ayden,
NC, and find Jones's BBQ.  Had better head out pretty early in the morning,
though, its a long drive.

Nothing in DC has really tickled my fancy.  My favorite local place so far
is Three Pigs, in Langley VA.  Other contenders: Rocklands (on Wisconsin Ave
in G'town), Bare bones in Gaithersburg (On 355 near Shady Grove Rd.), and
the winner on style points, Katydid's, a one woman stand on Pennsylvania Ave
SE, just over the Anacostia river.

nd, as any NC 'Q eater will tell you, the best bbq sauce is just a little
hot pepper in vinegar.  Let the meat do the talking!
