My wife and I spent a weekend at The Inn at Little Washington, a couple of
years ago.  Her treat (<G>), so I can't quote prices in detail, but the
lodging and the food were each absolutely tops.  Each and every item for the
two breakfasts and the two dinners we ate there were good enough to bring
forth <gasps>.  The service was perfect.  The rooms were gorgeous.  And the
price, sad to say, is indeed very high.  However, for anybody planning a
really special event, I can recommend it without reservation.

With reservation, actually.  The hotel (which is small) tends to book full,
and the restaurant gives priority to hotel guests, so that it's hard to get
reservations.  It's "fancy," by the way -- for gents, a suit and tie is
apporpriate for dinner, and at least a sport jacket (preferably with tie)
for breakfast.

Rates go up in the springtime (flower season) and fall (leaftime), so be
careful to get exact quotes for the specific time you'll be there.
