Two come to my mind...  Sole D' Italia on Layhill Road in Wheaton/Sil. Spr.
which is very family oriented and an old neighborhood hangout has great
pizza.  Also, I have only tried this place twice but enjoyed it immensely.
I don't remember the name of this small restaurant but it's on
Connecticut Ave. in Chevy Chase, MD... it's right where the old train
tracks cross (the tracks they've been talking about making into a Bethesda
Silver Spring trolley).   Both restaurants are good but I have to give
it to Sole D'Italia for old times sake.

Both places are simple, down-to-earth, family run restaurants.
