Well, thanks everyone for the info about the Giffords in Bethesda, 7720 Wisconsin Ave, across from the Bethesda Cinema & Drafthouse. Since I was in Friendship Hts last night, I stopped in the Giffords for a hot fudge sundae. Yum. According to the owner, they bought the old Giffords' recipes and reopened about 3 years ago. Guess I should get to Bethesda a little more often. They are planning on opening a store somewhere in northern Virginia sometime in the future. The fudge was real, though it wasn't served in the little ceramic pitchers the way the old Giffords did. The owner said has been trying to find some, without much luck. The decor of the new one is similar to the old Giffords, with the symbol of the woman carrying a bowl, though the old Giffords also used waitresses. Brings back memories. I grew up in Chevy Chase and was a frequent visitor of the Bethesda and Silver Spring Giffords. Glad to see they're back. -Steve-
