More Latin food

More choices:

La Enriqueta: Cuban; Ballston. Got an excellent writeup a year
or two ago in the Post and was overcrowded for a while. Last time
I was there it was back to usual. I'm particularly fond of the
red snapper in vinegar.

La Choza: Ecuadoran; Merrifield. Ignore the Mexican food on the
menu, it's lousy. The grilled chicken, steaks, black beans, and
chicken salad are wonderful. I worked a couple blocks from there
until recently; I'm going through withdrawl! Very inexpensive,
especially for lunch (their 1/4 chicken with rice & beans is $3.99
including a drink).

El Tazumal: Nicaraguan (I think); Silver Spring. Very nice.
There are also several other Latin places in downtown Silver
Spring. Haven't been in a year or so, so it might not be there.
Avoid the Mexican food; it's lousy.

Blanca's: El Salvadoran; Falls Church. Some good food, some
mediocre. Stay away from the Mexican stuff (that seems to be
a constant theme)! Only been there once, and thought that
La Enriqueta was much better (and in the same general area).

I haven't seen any of these mentioned by anyone else...surely
there's more out there?!?!?

BTW, I thought that Omega (mentioned by several people) had
closed several years ago after a fire...have they reopened?
I still don't think it's as good as La Enriqueta, although
much better know.

And there's *still* no decent Mexican food to be had in the
Washington DC area!
