SC> What are prices like in DC? Do places like Price or Pace sell bulk SC> quantity, wholesale-like priced coffee in the bean? I'd say that "gourmet" coffee tends to run more like $7/pound and up, in the DC area. It depends -- I used whole Columbian beans I got from Safeway, bulk, for several years, and was /very/ pleased with them -- for $5.99, and plenty of convenience. It wasn't "gourmet," but they were very consistent and roasted only a shade lighter than I like. Their quality went down, a couple of years ago, and I've been looking for another reliable, reasonable-priced, convenient source ever since. As I think I mentioned, I'm hoping that I can get some custom-roasted beans from "Barbara's Coffees & Teas" in Fair Oaks Mall, roasted exactly the way I like it and at a reasonable price. If I can, I'll probably buy about five pounds at a go -- get two or three pounds ground to give friends as gifts, and a pound of whole to freeze and a pound of whole to use right a way. * Origin: 3 Point 14159 (1:109/70.4214)
