How about the Cafe Berlin on Capitol Hill?  I've been there a couple of
times & it's pretty good.  Also the Cafe Mozart at 13th or 14th & NY ave NW
has German food.  I've only had dessert there, but that was good (but the
place was a little dumpy).  there is also a restaurant right off McPherson
square, the name of which I don't remember (like cafe Weimar or Leipzig
or some-
such).  this one's pretty new.
