Rocklands barbeque on Wisconsin Avenue in Glover Park has the wall of fire, where you can try out all kinds of hot sauces, and they also sell a lot of the kinds on the wall. I like the Baron's habanero sauce. They don't have two of my favorites (though most Asian grocery stores do): Indonesian sambal ulek and Thai Sri Ra Cha (both made in California, by the way). Also, Armadilla Grill in Bethesda has "Death by Dilla" habanero sauce available for the asking, and it was very hot when I had it yesterday, much hotter than the first few times (a few months ago). In article <cgq8mc1w165w@c-cat.PG.MD.US> david@c-cat.pg.md.us writes: >These and the many other fine hot sauces are available in this area at the >"Some Like It Hot" outlets in the area, there is one in the DC area, >Montgomery Mall, As one of the allegedly "under-testosteroned," I just had to get my hands on a bottle of Dave's so what do I find? "Some Like It Hot" is _not_ at Montgomery Mall (although they had a kiosk there over Christmas). Nor do they appear in the NOVA Yellow Pages or white pages. (Apparently I am not the only person to visit there lately as the woman at the information counter was quite familiar with the issue.) "Dave's Gourmet" does _not_ exist at 108 N. Columbus (or 108 S. Columbus) and has not for some time, that address being occupied by a law firm. It is not in the phone book either. Please everyone, when you post about stuff like this, indicate when you most recently visited a place. As it stands, I know of nowhere "in this area" (meaning within 50 miles of DC) to view and purchase a large variety of brands (meaning more than ten) or not-often-seen brands of Habanero-based sauces. Should I drive to Dewey Beach, or will I find that "Pepper's" is gone too? Is my frustration showing? What is it about hot sauces that makes all these places disappear? I suspect aliens seeking to deprive the human species of the transcendant qualities of capsaicin! If you see no more postings from me on this subject, you'll know why! -- Glen Foster <foster@css.gov>
