Mi Rancho is Tex Mex like the rest of them, but I just feel like they do it the best with the most inviting atmosphere and by far, the best service. The owners actually aren't Salvadorean in this case, they're half Portuguese as it turns out. I've noticed that usually when people from the west ask about authentic Mexican food, that's code for what is there other than Tex Mex, as the restaurants in California/Arizona/Colorado etc. don't generally serve that. Oh, I just thought of another restaurant that doesn't serve the standard Tex Mex-- Tia Queta in Bethesda. Specializes in Mole (chocolate) dishes as I recall. I used to eat there in the early 80's and it's amazingly still there, while almost the entire remaining restaurant landscape there has changed.
