I suppose you could say they are as different as Korean and Chinese, or French and Spanish. Beyond the broad grouping, Northern and Southern food can also be differentiated into regional styles. Northern Indian food is more similar to Pakistan and Afghan food than Southern Indian. In my opinion, that is!
