Just a few updates about places where we have been recently: 1. The Mandalay restaurant has moved from their original College Park location to 930 Bonifant Street in Silver Spring. They are waiting on a final electrical inspection before re-opening but should be open this week or next. This is one of my very favorite places to eat. I have raved about this place here before. 2. The Ye In restaurant on Rhode Island in Beltsville serves very upscale Korean food, that is quite different than what I am accustomed to seeing in Korean restaurants. This is much more delicate food than most Korean places serve, and approximates what a Korean friend calls "palace food." It's good. I'll eat there again. 3. Shanti's restaurant up in Laurel has a very wide selection of Indian and Malaysian food. They do a pretty wide set of Indian items, not just the usual Bengali stuff that you see at most Indian restaurants, as well as a more limited set of Malaysian items. The buffet has a wider variety of items than you normally see on Indian buffets, although they are no more fresh than a typical Indian buffet, I am sad to say. The menu items look much more interesting (although because they do not serve beef at all, many typical Malaysian specialties aren't on the menu), and seem to be a better choice. This place isn't as good as I'd like it to be, but they seem to be sincerely working on it and they look like they could use some more business. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis."
