I spent a bit of time at sea too and what little free time we had was
spent in the sack catching up on lost sleep.   Come to think of it we
did have one nerd who played with the test gear during his spare time.
Last I heard he was making a living at cleaning the algae from lakes.

I was told it was due to a shortage of agents which was probably true
at the time.  I've not had to deal with them since then.
