There's no need to tell them something they already know. It's kind of a moot point anyway since we've never been asked to write them for less that ten over. By ordinance and departmental policy we can and on rare unusual occassions it has happened but it is not the norm. >>>Your department could probably use some sensitivity training. >>Perhaps you noticed how well it worked in 1995. >No. Don't get the reference. I'll narrow it down a bit. Try 4-19-95. >>I drive a low profile unit that isn't easy to spot from directly ahead >>or behind until you are close. It's a double edged sword. If I drive the speed limit some will complain and if I speed others will complain. But that's not what I was writing about. I simply said that with this radar I can let the speeders come to me while I'm moving. Furthermore, driving a low profile unit they often blast right past me before they realize it's a black and white. >>The alternative is a system that nails everyone all the time >>regardless who they are, much like photo radar, and I don't know of >>very many people who want that. >That is obviously not the only alternative, much as you may want it, seeing >as you didn't specify yourself as one of the very many. The other alternative is anarchy. No speed limits, no stop signs, no signal lights, no lane lines, no tort laws. :) >But if he's not doing it, he's not playing. If the cylinders are empty, >he's not playing. So how do you play Russian Roulette safely? Empty cylinders = 5. Loaded cylinder = 1. He played and he survived and he says he'll never play again. Smart man. >Yeah, give cops tickets, 'cause they have to speed to catch speeders! Illegal arrest. They're exempt from the prima facie speed laws while in the performance of their duties. >No, I just manually took it out of replies to you. It was a hassle, but >since you changed your reply-to to a non-address I don't have to worry about >it anymore. My email address hasn't been in the reply-to in a long time. But whatever works is fine with me. >I mean, it's not as if people >mean it when they say "Thank you" after you've just given them a ticket. You'd be surprised at how many do exactly that. >I guess this is right. Judges aren't interested in the truth. There was nothing in that quote (not requoted in this already long composite reply) about the judge. >Wow, I always thought society was the police's "client." Now we know they >are above the law. A search for the truth IS in society's best interests. >Now show us the whores. They're the ones who determine in advance what the answer should be, then seek only that evidence to support it and bury all evidence to the contrary. When an attorney hires me to do a job the first thing he's told is that if he has a bad case I'm going to tell him so. At that point he can either drop the case or hire someone else. A good attorney is going to *want* to know if he has a bad case so he won't waste time on it. I've had some tell me that right upfront. In essence they're paying me for a second opinion. The worst thing someone in my field can do is to tell an attorney what he wants to hear and then later get eaten up in court by the other side who brings out ALL the evidence, not just what is in my side's favor. One's credibility takes a hard hit and future jobs can become scarce. As you can see it *is* in my best financially to seek the truth no matter where the trail leads. As one officer recently testified under oath in a civil trial, "You can buy my time but you cannot buy my testimony." email address can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/6123/
