That's the basic method and the nomograph is quick and easy way to do
calculations in the field. Most of the test skids I ran years ago
were by the speed/distance method however that requires getting out of
the car to measure the skids and with ABS that's not always easy. What
I do now is use the speed/time method using a stopwatch and radar.
It saves getting out of the car and has the added advantage of being
able to be used on a busy highway during a lull in traffic.

Do some searches on the web for existing accident reconstructionists
and look at those who list their fee schedules. That might be enough
of an incentive right there. :-]

And rightly so. I've never heard of a streel officer anywhere who
favored them. That's not saying there isn't one somewhere, but if
there is s/he is a very rare and weird bird indeed.

I think the OHP uses or at one time used this system. A contact could
be anything from a motorist assist to a warning ticket on up to a full
blown arrest so you can imagine how easy a quota would be under those
circumstances.

Quite often when I get a 'thank you' the motorist will pause, then
add, "well, not thank you for the ticket, but you know what I mean."
