I know lots of people who are thankful that governmental >units do all the positive things they do. Building roads for one.... Like building a new bridge in the Prime Minister's home town? When it is just too expensive to widen a few roads that have frequent serious fatalities? Like voting themselves raises whenever they feel like it? Like not getting rid of their gold plated pension plan? Just because they manage to do the occasional good thing doesn't make them good by default. >> Stupid laws are stupid laws, bureaucracies as a group are generally >> incapable of reacting to new information. > >Laws are laws. If you don't like them, then lobby the government to >change them. Not all laws are equal. That's why some you get a fine for and some you get jail time for. We get to go as fast as we want and occasionally get to pay a tax for our extra speed. If we were speeding for the sake of speeding, then average travel speeds would be affected by speed limit changes on a pretty even ratio, wouldn't they? Pity for the "speeders are scofflaws" theorists that Michigan's speed limit change of 15 mph resulted in a mighty 1.5 mph increase in the 85th percentile speed. -- Brandon "Spooooooooooonnnnn!"
