I personally have nothing against personalized auto tags, but they do
strike me as funny. But I guess they do have some marginal benefits:

---------

I suppose if you were driving around naked and did not have your
wallet with you and you died in an auto accident, the personalized tag
would help the police officer identify you.

--

I suppose if your memory is that bad and you cannot remember some
letter and number combination, you would still be able to find your
car in the baseball stadium parking lot after the game. (Amazing how
well you remember everyone's batting average.)

--

I suppose if you were already a snob (not all who have these tags are)
then you could carry your snobbery a bit further. Maybe you could even
put your initials on your hub caps.

--

I suppose such a tag would make an alien in a UFO favor your capture
because your tag might resemble the personalized tag on his/her
spacecraft.

--

I suppose that if "Jr" drove dad's car, one set of tags would work for
dad and son (except in that fatal accident when you left all your
clothes at home).

--

I suppose if you were an elementary grade school teacher, you might
have a tag like ABC. If a high school teacher, you might have y=f(x).
If a college professor for 30 years, you might have $$$. And if
retired, ZZZZ... would be appropriate.

--

I suppose if you were driving on a tall mountain, doves would know to
seek refuge in your car from predator hawks. (You may have to think
about this one awhile, folks.)

--

I suppose a cross-country hitchhiker could describe his trip to a
friend as, "First, I caught a ride with BILL, then SUSAN, then JP III,
then TAKE OFF, HOT PANTS and DO IT."

--

I suppose if you have a tag like LMP&TWP, others who might otherwise
flirt with you, would not, knowing you are already attached to
someone. (The lack of highway flirting might save a life or two, too.)

--

DISCLAIMER: Any resemblence in any of these scenarios to any persons
living or dead, or to their vehicles, is pure coincidence. And you can
forget about winning a lawsuit if there is a resemblence amd you feel
you were slandered or defamed; my tag reads:
