Overweight trucks have been the primary cause of highway moguls and depressions. With that comes more highway repairs and replacement. With that comes more taxes for the trucking companies. Trucking companies should be smart and not overload their vehicles. Another expense trucking companies must bear is the cost of weigh stations, because the "honor" system is not one that will work. And unfortunately, it probably a few companies and/or drivers who make everyone pay out. And of course the other motorist have to put up with exiting and entering trucks at weigh stations, and with the bumpy roads (moguls).
