I and a pack of other drivers followed a state trooper home over about a 15 mile distance on the interstate. It was quite revealing: - drivers in the right lane slowed to the speed limit (but you know the right lane is usually 5-10 over the limit in rush hour; hypocrites and "non-aggressive" slow-bees) - a pack of 10 or so cars stayed all about 1-2 car lengths apart the whole time (all of them were less than a safe-distance apart) - we drove continuously about 5-10 over the limit (the cop ticketed no one) - an extraordinary number of drivers remembered the "stay-to-the-right" rule (when they saw the trooper in their mirror) - as a result, the passing delta was far better than the usual CONCLUSION: Hypocrisy, stupid laws, stupid drivers, dumb commute.
