There is express service on 29, but you're basically relying on the
connection in S.S.; also, this is really the hard way on the Metro around
DC, the equivalent of going to SS from Bethesda on the Red line, only worse.

I hate to say it, but the obvious path is probably the best: round the B-way
to 29 and then north.  I can't imagine that competing with all the people
going into DC from VA is going to help.  What you realy need is a bridge
across the Potomac about halfway between Carderock and White's Ferry-- don't
count on it in your lifetime, though.

One idea you might want to try is to cross the P. at Chain bridge, find your
way over to 16th St., and then go up Colesville to to 29.  The connection
from the bridge to 16th isn't very good, though.
