Very good! I agree 100%. In fact, there are such laws in some
states/municipalities. But it's hard to enforce. How are you gonna
ban things hot pants, miniskirts, and picket signs on public highway
shoulders and city sidewalks? <g>
But don't laugh: Back in the late 70's, I worked for a company in
downtown Los Angeles, which sold pins and videos (amusement devices).
The cops would always come in during their break, and help themselves
to complimentary donuts and coffee, and paly a game or two. I am not
kidding! This is true! My dad told me a story of when, before I
worked there (he got me the job), this motorcycle cop came in one day
on crutches, with multiple fractures and bruises. They asked him:
"What the hell happened to you?". Here was his story, as best as I
can remember:
Well, I was doin my usual beat, just tooling along
down Sunset, when I saw the most gorgeous
babe I EVER seen walking along on the sidewalk.
I couldn't take my eyes off of her. All of a sudden,
=BOOM!=. I didn't even notice that traffic was
stopped at a red light, and I rear-ended a
stopped car at 35 MPH.
Perhaps certain LAPD cops should have "STUPID" tattooed on their
foreheads. Cops are trained. They should know better.
