Such practices result in accidents much more often than less obnoxious
practices do.  Besides, if you do it once a day and it only results in an
accident one time in a thousand, then you will average more than one
accident every three years.  You might call that rare event, but that
accident frequency might become unacceptable after a while. ;-)
