In article <wykE5vGB7.9nB@netcom.com>, Your Bud Wes <wyk@netcom.com> writes > >: Get a grip!..."THEY'RE *FOG* LIGHTS!!! If someone doesn't see you, try >: using > >Hrm. Fog lights are _usually_ yellow. No, not in Europe anyway. They are sometimes yellow, but not usually. >Most the "fog" lights are actually what the europeans call "driving" >lights. No, fog lights are fog lights. >You should be familiar with these, Don. These lights are not yellow. >Adjusted correctly as not to blind other drivers, all they do is widen >your field of view in the dark and make you easier to see. > You are actually describing fog lights here. Driving lights are like supplementary high beam headlamps - they give a beam which lights the road far ahead. Fog lamps give a short, broad, diffused beam which shines low so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers and diffused so as not to reflect off the fog back into the driver's eyes. -- Regards Leroy Curtis Leroy@baram.demon.co.uk
