actaully, i like the eastern shore route for just this reason.  the
tolls are a lot lower and the traffic is easier.  it's not really
slower either, and it's more relaxed.

whatever you do, avoid i495 around wilmington.  as of last week it was
still under construction... a one-lane mess :-(
