On the other hand, putting a blower on a pushrod Corvette C5 will make a car that already beats the four-bangers even faster. And it already has better aerodynamics. Blowing pretty much any C4 or C5, and most Stingrays, will make a much faster car than any four banger (including Lotus and that weird looking thingie that used Chrysler turbos). Blowers are readily available for $2000-5000, depending on how much work you want to do and how fast you want to go. Some are about the size and shape of an alternator. It is still true that there is no substitute for displacement. That's why people put 5.0 engines in Miatas. Then they supercharge _that_. Then they put on bigger tires because there's only so much power you can get to the ground anyways. Then... http://www.monstermotorsports.com > >My midly modified Mustang was beaten by a 1st gen Talon. But I'm sure it was >nitrous as he made me look like i was standing still in 3rd gear. Don't worry, he won't be doing it for long if it is. A couple of blown engines, it gets old real fast. I was talking to a guy with a '64 Vette with Nitrous, he said the first time he pushed the red button with his newly built engine, it cost $6500. That is, to build it again. > >The 2nd gen DSMs are slower though and the 1st gen DSMs can't take a 5.0L >stock for stock...but turning up the boost is another thing. Definitely a rich boys mistake. jg -- These opinions are my own. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/joel_garry Remove nospam to reply. mailto:joel-garry@nospam.home.com Available for Oracle DBA work.
