If he turns into someone who just wants to pace >me, the loud pedal is there to handle any upcoming passes required. This is what happened to me yesterday: 405, heavy morning rush hour traffic doing about 65. I'm in the left lane, next to me in the carpool lane is a full dress Aspencade. Slightly ahead of me in the next lane to the right is a pickup with a shell, pacing on his right a new beetle. Right lane is moving but stopped up ahead for a transition road. I see something in my right mirror, look over in time to see a chippie on a new beemerbike panic braking, apparently about to split between the truck and the beetle at 130 and realizing he can't make it. The bike was in a weird squirrelly cavitation, the rear wheel yawing rapidly. I tapped the brakes, expecting him to cut in front of me, but he actually managed to bring it down to 65, then dropped back behind and around the beetle. The Aspencade "flinched" left (no shoulder in carpool lane), I don't know whether I startled him by slowing or he saw the beemer situation. I was quite amazed that nothing newsworthy happened. >-- >Brandon > >Caution: objects in the mirror may >have flunked drivers education.
