A couple of years ago, I witnessed someone who presumably had some kind of
emergency and was trying to get through traffic. He had his brights on,
4-ways flashing, and was sounding a rhythmic beep-beep-beep with his horn.
For the period of time I saw, nearly everyone moved out of his way. With
cars that didn't move right away he hung back a car length or so and just
kept up with the horn on-off-on, the car in front would catch on in a few
seconds and yield. Only one car didn't move, and the guy didn't have to
bully his way past, since the car in the right lane slowed to let him get
by. Everyone just seemed to pick up that this car was in trouble, and not
the usual gedouttamyway tailgater. This would be the method I would use in
an emergency situation.

But if somebody continued to refuse to move and it was truly
_Life-Or-Death_? My knee-jerk reaction is "Hell yes I will go right through
them" - but this is really an awesome act with awesome consequences. What
about the innocent passenger in that car? (who may be pleading with the
driver to please move over) What about the minivan full of kids in the
other lane that might get taken out by a punted LLB?

I can tell you if I was rushing my dying mother to the hospital, and she
found out I'd killed innocent people on her account, she'd never forgive me.

I just don't think the issue is that simple. My two cents.
