If you're keeping pace with the lane, there is no reason to yield
since you aren't blocking traffic.

How can you be blocking traffic if you're a) keeping pace with the
vehicles in front of you and b) in dense traffic?

If you aren't keeping pace with the vehicles in front of you and there
are vehicles immediately behind you you're blocking traffic and should
yield the lane.
