You know Rahul, your narrow-minded self righteous attitude is really driving me to the brink of wanting to find you and beat you into a meaty pulp. #1. This group is not composed entirely of people wanting to pass the blame of their misfortunes onto someone else. The people who post relevant articles in this group (currently ca.driving) are people who want to exclaim their opinions of various laws, conditions, events and people who influence their driving experience. You percieve these people as folks "who tend to blame everybody else for their problems." I view these people as (mostly) intelligent people trying to provide a rational argument against things that negatively impact their driving, be it some bureaucrat who arbitrarily defines a whole number as a guideline as to what is a safe speed to drive, or some asshole who can't figure out how to tie a hand dolly down so it doesn't fall out of the back of his truck. #2. There is no way to possibly avoid 100% of the accidents out there, regardless of who is at fault. My girlfriend rear-ended a car on I-80 doing about 45. Was it her fault? Yes. Was it avoidable by her? Most definately (she was adjusting the sun visor). Could the person in front of her escaped the accident? Since the traffic went from 45-0 in less than, oh, 200-400' (at the time I didn't have my yardstick with me so I can't provide the *exact* distance) I would surmise the answer to this question as a 'No'. If in fact in the minute chance that the victim *was* able to avoid the collision with my girlfriend, what about the person *in front of them* stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic? Would they have been able to evade a 3000 pound car doing between 30-40 MPH? I'm sorry but I don't think even Evil Knevil is that good. What do you want from me to objectively verify *my* claims? I'm extremely anal when it comes to details and I'm sure I could provide you any subjective evidence to prove to you that my illustration in #2 was in fact a scenario where the victim of my girlfriend's poor judgement was doomed to some degree. But somehow, I think that you will find some way to say that once again you are right and that we are all wrong. (Sigh) -- Brian Wilborn e-mail: bwilborn@ix.netcom.com.REMOVE.THIS.TO.REPLY
