I get the sense from some of you folks that you are taking your driver's ed books home, reading a chapter for homework and then hitting Usenet to show how clever you are now that you are experts. With a little experience you may find out that things don't always happen as they do in textbooks. >It's a hoot how it's always the "other guys fault" with you clowns, >isn't it? The posts I've been reading are saying that "look[ing] in your rear view mirror on occasion, be[ing] aware of what's going on around you and take[ing] corrective actions," while a really great idea is not going to make you Mr. Superdriver who will never, ever, get into an accident. No matter what you do or how you drive, if you drive, you _will_ be placed (usually by others and conditions) in situations where you simply can't avoid an accident. To deny this is simply, patently, absurdly naive. It's a real hoot for me when someone pontificates about how situations that happen every day _can't happen_. I hear constantly from junior engineers "that can't happen." That's how you tell they're junior.
