When I was about 14, we were sitting in the back yard of my friends house.
We heard this screeeeeeeeech (pause) blam! We go running out to find
my friends sister in her car, with a '55 Chevy mounted on the back. The
guys master cylinder blew out, and I guess that was before they had dual
master cylinders. You could see the exact spot on the pavement where the
fluid let go. He probably could've just driven around her... naw, they
had pretty slow steering then, too.

I seem to recall fairly recently cars being recalled because of abraded
brake lines. Hmmm, Monte Carlos have brake failures when wet... no, not
that one...Econoline parking brake abrades fuel line...Volvos burst
into flames. Dang, couldn't find the one I was looking for.

Of course, now we have Lexus' being recalled because cellphones interfere
with stability control systems! (Part of which have a computer putting on
individual brakes...)

I had the brakes of my '63 Vette come on while I was driving through the
mountains. I'd let it sit for a while and then it would be ok. A real
head-scratcher until I took the wheels off and looked. A spring broke
off one of the rear drum shoes, so the brake would rub, heat up the
brake fluid, and make all the brakes come on...
