Brandon, dude, Earl & I hashed this out about a year ago. The standard
rubber compound he uses (and refers to so obliquely) would manage about
0.75-0.80 G under ideal conditions. About 'average' for what's on most
cars. A Z (or, in my case *R*) compound throws off his calculations of
speed, but it's in the favor of the driver on the soft compounds, since
you're traveling a lot FASTER than his calculations would show with the
'rock' compound. It's likely he'd figure I was doing 25% slower than my
actual speed by using these assumptions on my skid marks (if any)! Bottom
line is, it DOES rule out the gumballs I'm so fond of using on the street
... and on the track.

C'mon; ease up. You KNOW he's right about this. It's not that the average
dope steers INTO trouble with ABS, but that he DOESN'T steer AWAY from it.
Just drives straight into whatever immovable object is in the way, all the
while thinking, "WHY doesn't this thing STOP?"
