According to Mr. "One Ton" (now residing in my killfile), it's all your fault and you should take some accident-avoidance classes. But, you know, that's ridiculous. Sometimes you really are just in the wrong place at the wrong time, no fault of your own. It happens. When a similar accident happened to me (stopped at a red light at night, guy comes up behind me weaving and speeding and can't stop in time for the light) I had a split second to see the guy coming at me, but my only option would have been to accelerate rapidly forward into the intersection and to the right or left, out of his way. Considering that the light was red, I couldn't do it. Too much ingrained training, I guess. And I don't think I would have been able to get out of the guy's way anyway -- it really was a split-second thing. Just enough time to think "Oh $#!! they're going to hit --" and, BOOM. Oh, yeah, when I pulled into the next mini-mart and told the guy there what had happened, he said "Oh, that blue car that just came through this intersection doing about 85!" I just hope they didn't run into a few other people out there that night... -- +-- Wendi Dunlap-Simpson ----- litlnemo@slumberland.seattle.wa.us --+ | Seattle, Washington, USA * Slumberland BBS, 206-323-5121 | | NOTE temporary site change * http://www.slumberland.seattle.wa.us | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
