That reminded me of my near-miss just north of Detroit last summer,
when a semi tried to change into a lane that I was occupying. In
one fraction of a second, I glanced at my mirror while braking,
swerved left as I blew one of my brake lines, and slapped the shifter
into Second when I relized I had no brakes, in that order.
Then I thought to blast the horn.
BTW - The brake line blew because the previous owner replaced the
rear axle lines with nice, new stainless steel lines, but failed
to route them against the rear axle, and they slowly abraded and
rubbed on the shock absorbers with every bump until finally *POP*,
the driver's side line blew out. I looked at the other side line
and sure enough, it was worn down. I bent it ever-so-slightly and
it started seeping fluid. Scary.

You know your car is pathetic when you are thrilled
one day when you speed-shift into Third and it chirps
one of the tires.
I MISS MY 429!
