  The "jerks who run thru the red lights" are shitheads who are self-
centered and don't care if they endanger others, or apparently
themselves.  They typically are the same types who exhibit other
poor driving practices.  They are dreck.

  People whining about fines for this, and asking for warnings
instead, are ignorant or wrong-thinking.  Do we insist only on
issuing warnings to speeders, reckless drivers, drunk drivers,
shoplifters, robbers, rapists, or murderers?  Why not stop the
irritating practice of taking other criminals' money or time if
we don't want red-light runners punished?

  Sheesh.  There's no excuse for a pro-criminal lobbying effort
with driving as bad as it is.
