Likewise, when you're giving your whole income to the government so they can
be compassionate with it.  Correction: When the government takes your whole
income, not when you give it to them.  That's what "withholding" does. They
get it before you see it, so you don't realize they took it.  I'm
self-employed and pay quarterly. It changed my view when I started actually
writing them checks which are more per month than my house payment.
But, trust them if you want.  I'll choose business over government anyday.
I can choose not to buy gasoline, but I can't choose not to pay taxes
without
going to jail.  Exxon can't levy my bank accounts, but Uncle Sam can,
LEGALLY.
