No, I am NOT the problem with this nation.  My point is really this:
the various hierarchies of USENET allow for discussion of almost
any topic.  But to be useful, you must STAY ON TOPIC.  This is why
USENET, once a useful forum for information exchange, is rapidly
becoming useless.  If I wanted to talk about US politics, the obvious
forum is talk.politics.usa, as well as many others.  . . . as a result
of self-important people violating topic guidelines, USENET is rapidly
becoming un-usable, hence the rise in moderated newsgroups.

I could care less as to what the mayors of Atlanta are doing: that's
the job of the voters in Atlanta.   Again, leaving the topic to where
it's relevant.  Now, if you want to discuss what the Washington Post
or Times are covering, or the performance of Mayor Williams, that
WOULD be on-topic in dc.general. . . .

But I'm sure you get the idea. . .
