An article in the San Jose Mercury a few weeks back found that a majority of the H1-B visa were being hired by contract temp agencies. This provides a "layer of ignorance" between the contracting company and the worker, similar in fashion when many companies contract out janitor and landscape services to immigrants. The hiring company then need not know precisely the visa status nor how much the contractee is being paid. The contract companies can employ economies of scale in the odorous paperwork to get the visas. The same article also found nearly half of the visas were being issued to same South Asian nationality, three times higher than next highest nationality from East Asia. Hats to the nationalities with the business sense to know how to pump the system. -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
