how/what's/who's to decide what's funny in dc.politics... 
and/or following the same logic, what to do about the funny/non-funny
stuff that should go to the other 13 or so (besides general and politics) 
dc. *.* groups... leaving dc.general moderated with empty space and
100% appropriately boring?

IMO, if you want to limit cross-posting, just put a # on it... 
let's not do elimination of "pet peeve" groups...

representing what political and social spectrums...and certified to have 
had lobotomies so as to not be able to recognize trolls or compute
inappropriate types and numbers of cross-posts?..  -;)

I say no...  
if you must: have moderated for those who don't want clutter and
impurities;

but IMO dc.general is not yet either so precious or so vile and tortured
that most can't save themselves from the perceived annoyances of 
various reputed unwashed citizens of the country and the world...
