I'd suggest IPCop, at www.ipcop.org. It started out as a fork of the
Smoothwall project by people who were fed up with the jerky antics of
Smoothwall maintainer Richard Morrell, but is well beyond that now (Google
around for the details). I've been using it for some time under a
tri-homed setup at home and have implemented it elsewhere as well. Go
with the 4GB, 10GB is definately overkill, and 4GB will let you really
spool out your logs and play with the included proxy cache server (Squid).
Heck, even a PII is overkill really, maybe you can fish a Pentium I out of
the trash somewhere. For a home setup, I'd say 200MHZ is plenty of speed.
RAM is more important, especially if you flip on all the bells.
