Ed: have you considered running Pine locally on your Linux box? Maybe
I've read your note wrong, but it looks like you're telneting to your ISP
and running pine from the unix prompt. By running pine locally, you can
not only can you receive e-mail to your local linux account, but you can access your "real" account on
your ISP's host from your local pine session. Here are the things I had
to set up in my .pinerc file (with lots of help from fellow linuxians):
(all these are for my account)
user-domain=csimon.cais.com (your linux box's local "domain")
smtp-server=cais.com
nntp-server=199.0.216.204 (this is a news server at my ISP)
incoming-folders={cais.cais.com}inbox (this is your inbox on your ISP's
host, when you access it, you'll be prompted for a userid & password)
With a local pine session going, you shouldn't have any problems getting
your printer to work. As far as the linux ver. of pine: it came w/ the
CDs w/ slackware.
Good Luck, Chuck
