I am preparing for the installation of Linux. Since backup will take forever, I would prefer to set it right the first time. My question is what will be a reasonable way to divide linux into several small partitions ? I want to partition my hard disk ( 2G left, already one DOS primary and one DOS extension subdivided into 2 logical drive letter ) into several partitions and put various parts of linux on them. Some directories have more potential to grow than others. This way, I can divide full backup to partitions and do it in smaller session. Some files need to be in a certain place or be with certain files. I am reading the Linux Bible published by Yggdrasil ( how to prounce this anyway ? ). But so far I can't get any definite suggestion on how to divide linux. So perhaps this is an logical/experimental issue. I would appreciate any experience you can share with me. BTW, is there any good backup program out there ? Something like Fastback or PC-Backup for DOS ? All I found is tar and one very expensive program ( > $1000 per licence ).
