As far as the BIG Kernel, well, not much you can do except to remove support. Just a note to anyone braving the newest version of 1.3.XX... I built 1.3.9, it had some compile bugs... One may have been an installation design issue, but... The first bug was with sound support: file uart8950.c or something like that. It uses a macro (INTR_xxxxx_xxxxx don't remember exactly, but I can chack it. It is supposed to be INT_xxxxx_xxxxx) that generates a compile error. Had to hunt for a while to find the right macro, but it wasn't too hard. The other bug is with new ide support. What happens is that for the first few options it asks you if you want this or that ide support. Then it asks you if you want the new extended ide support (extended meaning more that 1 ide controller I think, or more than 1 device... I think it is controller, it has been a couple of weeks since I built this thing...) ... If you choose no as I did, an important file doesn't get included. And things do not compile because you are missing some functions... Well, they don't link anyway... So you must choose that... I do believe that is an error because you shouldn't have to choose experimental support... but maybe it is the way in which I interpreted the other options. Anyway, just a note to anyone wanting to brave the experimantal kernel... it works rather well... Just make sure you have a kernel backup... And this kernel does produce a BIG kernel warning... ...
