The Skins loss to the Cowboys was a huge improvement over the debacle with the Giants. The cowboys are a competent NFL team, and made some spiffy plays. The biggest thing is benching Friedman. Friedman has to learn to snap the ball, THEN worry about blocking. Raymer's butt goes up when he snaps, like a good center. With Friedman, the QB was doing the lurching, and it's all over already in that league. The next phase is to simplify the offense. This game looked like Spurrier. Not good. You can run a football team with one offensive play. Start there, and put in what works from there. Don't put in anything that isn't bulletproof. Portis does in fact remind me of Riggins. He looks like a true creature of the gridiron. He gets six when most backs would get 2. He's a bit shiftier than Riggo, but it's the same deep skillset with a bit smaller, faster tool. Nice to see. Nice to see a halfback with shinguards on. He means business. The defense weakened as a whole with two great LBs out. That means it's coherent, which is good. Now the O has to step up until they get back. Rotate Patrick and Brunell and maybe the other guy. IF you score, you play the next drive. If not, you don't. Period. That evens out the abuse. Brunell's corner passes early were INTs for touchdowns that didn't happen. Horrible passes. Be very glad that garbage wasn't against Champ. A couple different ref calls and the Skins win. Hang in there. This team is going to rock.
