First of all, the market should decide these things. Secondly, I would venture to guess (from my experience as both a waiter and bartender) that something like 75% of all bar employees smoke, so second-hand smoke isn't really an issue to them. Finally, I think that its really funny how so many people get up in arms over second hand smoke which, these days, they are rarely exposed to, yet seem pretty complacent in the face of the many more dangers that other environmental pollutants present--automobile exhaust, industrial emissions, food additives, water contamination, etc. This goes hand-in-hand with the irony of McDonalds & TacoBell being "smoke-free." The food in these places is probably way more harmful in the long run than the chance of inhaling some second-hand smoke for 15 minutes or so. Saturated fats, low-quality hormone injected meat, and starchy, processed-flour buns are probably more harmful than not. Banning smoking is an easy, quick, cosmetic solution ignoring the much larger health threats facing the country. Eating at a smoke-free Mickey Dee's is kinda like joggin behind an MTA bus. Sean
