Am Hist Exhibit Question

I heard a while back there was a Vietnam exhibit in the
American History Museum which was a display of the things
gathered that people left at the Wall.

Does anyone know if this exhibit is still going on? And
if so, how one goes about seeing it. Is it just as simple
as walking into the Am.Hist. Museum during regular business
hours?

Thanks ,
Andrew

<*> Dear Andrew,
As I understand it, all items left at the wall are stored at
a warehouse in Glendale Maryland (near Goddard Space Flight Center in
neighboring Greenbelt). Here, they are catagorized and placed into
boxes or wrapping to protect them.

There may very well be a display of these, but I'm not sure
at this time. I just wanted to pass along this add'l information,
since I'm always surprised to learn how many folks don't realize
just how much of this stuff is left and is now in storage. Best
regards. Bill

The exhibit is scheduled to run through June 1993. I was last downtown over
Veterans Day weekend and was told the exhibit was extremely crowded (as you
might expect). I was also told that it is a very good exhibit; definitely one
to see. Also, it is as easy as going in the Am. Hist. Museum during regular
business hours and viewing it. Apparently, it is set up much as any other
exhibit.

<*> I just wanted to include that with the inauguration, as well as
the regular crowding in D.C., it may be difficult to find a
decent hotel in the area in which to stay. Should any readers
find this to be the case, please contact me via e-mail for one
     a possible solution. I work part-time at a lodge 5 minutes
outside D.C., and can assist in providing daily rates as low
as $40.00 (with a minimum 2-day stay) through the cooperation
     of my manager. e-mail: BWOOD@NSSDCA.GSFC.NASA.GOV
