Hallo,

ich habe ein Problem, Linux ueber rmt auf eine SUN SOlaris Box zu backuppen.

auf der LinuxBox mache ich:

chico:/root # rsh -l lkarrer nebula w
 10:45am up 3 day(s), 15:17, 3 users, load average: 0.04, 0.02, 0.02
User tty login@ idle JCPU PCPU what
root console 6:47pm 15:58 -bash
root pts/0 6:47pm 15:56 1:06 1:06 netscape
lkarrer pts/1 10:26am 7 -tcsh
lkarrer pts/2 10:43am vi /var/adm/messages

Ich habe also die Berechtigung vie rsh / rpc Befehle auszufuehren.

Nun:

chico:/root # dump 0cfu 'lkarrer@nebula:/dev/rmt/0n' /
DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Sun Mar 22 10:52:40 1998
DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
  DUMP: Dumping /dev/hda1 (/) to /dev/rmt/0n on host lkarrer@nebula
DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
  DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
DUMP: estimated 568302 tape blocks on 32.73 tape(s).
DUMP: Protocol to remote tape server botched (code "rmt: Command not found.")
. rdump: Lost connection to remote host.
DUMP: Bad return code from dump: 1
chico:/root #

Maschinen.))

Ich sehe da nicht durch. Wer kann helfen?

Merci

Lukas Karrer

Personnaly I would do it that way:

cd /
find . -depth -print | cpio -o | ssh sun -l tape_priviledged_user \(echo "possibly tape init sequence here"\;dd of=/dev/tape_dev_name bs=32768 \)

If I remember well, rsh and rmt is plain TCP, not RPC.

whereis rmt on the server, and possibly add it to path.

Sagt doch alles: rmt steht nicht PATH fr lkarrer auf nebula
(rmt ist /usr/sbin/rmt).

Teste mal "rsh -l lkarrer nebula echo $PATH"

Tsch
