This happened to me once. Try this script, it worked for me.

if SysSetObjectData("C:\DESKTOP","OBJECTID=<WP_DESKTOP>")

   say "Success"
else
   say "Failure"

Change "C:\desktop" accordingly if C is not your boot drive or it's 
called something else in the German version.
