Hi,
it's funny how fast NetNews can be: about one day after posting
my announcement for `hactar:~/incoming/wCNews.lha', I saw one site
successfully uucp'ing it to Switzerland (and another one failing to
do so to southern Germany =:-<); maybe in the meantime some more
poeple have got it by nuucp (preferred) or BMS, so I post this here.
Well, unfortunately, there is at least one stupid bug in the
supplied `cn:relay/getdate.c' (not to be confused with
`cn:lib#?/getdate.(c|y)' - in my opinion, that one is just one big
mistake =:->): numeric timezones are recognized correctly but may get
computed incorrectly (I forgot to terminate the two strings =:-<),
causing articles being rejected as being `posted too far in future'.
(BTW, if you re-relay the rejected batches (should have been moved to
`uunews:in.coming/bad/#?' by `newsrun'), these articles are usually
accepted ...) This only affects you if you have set `MaxArticleAge'
to something >0.
I think I fixed this (hopefully without introducing new bugs
=:->), and because that fix (containing new `getdate.c' and the
resulting `relaynews' executable) is short enough, I've posted it to
alt.sys.amiga.uucp.patches,de.alt.binaries.amigaos ...

BTW, there's a `bugreport' script included, *PLEASE* use that to
report any bugs/wisches regarding `wCNews' to `bugs@hactar.hanse.de'.
And *PLEASE* use it (or at least normal email) to `register' if you
are testing `wCNews', so I can inform you by email if neccessary.
Thank you,
kai
