Hello, I have a problem on a network. There is a HP file server, three pc's clients and three macintosh clients. The problem is when the file server comes up then the macintosh clients loose connection between them, but not with the file server. Only when the file server is down and then we turn on the mac's the connection between them is well established. After this if we turn on the file server and after a while, suddently the mac's loose the connection. The pc's besides, act normally. Looking forward to your prompt reply and thank you in advance. I can't be absolutely certain from your description of the problem, but it sounds like the Macs are configured with the default settings for the network number and zone name, and the NetWare for Macintosh doesn't agree with it -- probably configured as a "seed" router. One way to confirm that would be to shut down the Macs (including any Appletalk printers), bring up the NetWare server, and then restart the Macs after the NetWare server is back up. That way the Macs will get their network number and zone information from the NetWare server, and everything will be hunky-dory. If everything is stable after that process, you need to either leave the NetWare server up all the time, or reconfigure it so it accepts Appletalk network information from the network -- in other words, configure as a "non-seed" router.
