ATTENTION SATELLITE BROADCAST OF USENET NEWS INTO EUROPE VIA SATELLITE


NCIT has made arrangements to provide a satellite broadcast of usenet
news into most of Europe.

This satellite newsfeed is extremely fast and of high volume. It is not
designed for the casual user. If you are an ISP or a corporation which
needs 700 megs to 1 gigabyte a day of compressed news then this service is
probably for you.

This news feed will be the same feed as the Domestic United Sates feed
with the addition of the European groups.  Fido and Email will be
transmitted but maybe dropped if there is not enough interest.

The software will be the same software that NCIT is running in the US.
There are versions for all versions of Unix,Linux,BSDI, SUN-OS even DOS.

The software can be downloaded via ftp.pagesat.net
/ftp/pub/satellite/hs/unix or /Dos. Just get
the latest version. The Unix version is a tar file and the
Dos version is zipped.

If someone in Europe wants to place this on a local machine in Europe
please do. Send us an Email message to norman@pagesat.net and  I will see
that the information is placed on our web page.

Speaking of webpages we have added a European service section to the
webpage at

This has a European coverage map and an order form. Please download the
order form and fax it back to us. We will not charge the card until we will
acknowledge the order before we ship the unit and charge the card. We are
planning for an initial run of 100 units. This is not many for an area the
size of Europe. So if you want to use the service orders will processed on
a first come first serve basis. It could take up to 90 days after this
initial run. Many sites will save enough money in Telco charges
to pay for the receiver in 3 or 4 months.

Please forward this information on to as many sites, newsgroups, mailing
lists etc. Also please translate this as well to as many languages as
possible. Notify the press etc. We need to get the word out.

The service will require a NCIT digital satellite receiver which will be
shipped to the location you desire.
The antenna and LNB that attaches to the antenna are just standard TVRO or
DBS antenna's that can be purchased locally from just about any installer.
A list of manufacturers and distributor's that handle the equipment will
also be given to those purchasing the system.

The cost of the service is $125.00 dollars per month billed monthly. The
first 6 months will be billed in advance at a reduced rate of $100.00 per
month. The cost of the satellite receiver is $1050.00 Payment will be
through credit card. This does not include freight, taxes or duty. The
customs insurance and freight via Federal Express is estimated to cost
$200.00.

This service will start officially at the beginning of November 1996.
However data will be transmitted prior to this date. Anyone with a
receiver prior to November will receive the service at no charge.
